Vitamin D

Vitamin D Video is software that uses HTM to detect people and moving objects in video streams, for security and monitoring applications. Conventional object recognition starts by applying rules about the aspect ratio of objects (tall objects are people, flat objects are not). These systems typically require thousands of dollars of hardware and consulting for calibration and ongoing maintenance. In contrast, Vitamin D Video has demonstrated accuracy levels equivalent to the state of the art, at a fraction of the cost. Vitamin D Video requires no calibration, and works with off-the-shelf webcams and network cameras on a PC or Mac. For more information, visit www.vitamindinc.com.

EDSA

EDSA (www.edsa.com), the leading developer of power analytics solutions for the design, testing, and management of complex electrical power and energy management systems, is integrating HTM into their Paladin Live software to enable new electrical power analytics, supervision and diagnostic systems. Numenta's HTM Technology will perform the function of "anomaly detection". When deployed, it will act as the "brain" of the system, intelligently observing day-to-day operations to establish a baseline of normal functioning infrastructure; learning about the subtleties between "routine" and "non-routine" events; and finally alerting operators when a situation is not normal, enabling them to investigate.

Forbes.com

Forbes.com, a high traffic news website, used HTM networks to characterize and predict user web clicks. The goal was to predict topics of interest to a specific user by analyzing the temporal statistics of page visits. An HTM was trained with hundreds of thousands of historical user sequences. By monitoring a new user's current pattern through the site, the HTM was able to correctly predict web pages of potential interest to this user. Although not perfect, the accuracy with HTM's was significantly higher than with traditional techniques. This demonstrates that HTM's can potentially be applied to web recommendation engines or ad click prediction.

Other applications

Other development partners are working on detecting financial fraud, creating new web analytical tools, and analyzing images for digital pathology.
